Join us for a guided morning bird walk at Gnome Hollow Preserve on Saturday, May 16, from 8:00–10:00 AM (rain date Sunday, May 17 at the same time), led by one of RVC's own local ecologists, Sharon Wander. Spring migration will be in full swing, making this a wonderful time to observe and listen for a wide variety of birds as they pass through or settle in for the season.
As we explore the preserve’s diverse habitats, you’ll learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, gain insight into their behaviors, and discover why Gnome Hollow is such an important refuge for wildlife. This walk is perfect for beginners and experienced birders alike. It is recommended that you download the app Merlin to your phone before the walk, as we will learn how to use it to enhance your birding experience.
Binoculars are recommended if you have them. Children age 10 and older are welcome to join with a parent.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes, apply tick spray, and dress for the weather. There are no public restrooms available.
